The sound of silence

from w
I planned to spend four hours today in prayer and meditation with a group, but the program was cancelled due to lack of interest! Okay, if that sounds weird, well I just did some sketching in the city - an alleyway, King George statue in front of the old entrance to the Geelong Art Gallery with a giant Fred Williams painting and others on the outside wall, Greek columns and poinsettias in bloom in the middle of winter. Now that all seems even weirder to me.

Lack of interest? Have people become so allergic to peace and quiet?!?

Too true. Maybe it was a football day and the locals REALLY love Aussie Rules footie, and Geelong is doing well this season, actually on the top of the ladder, so peace and quiet comes second to that focus!

Penny, I guess sitting alone with a scene or something to draw is a kind of silence and meditation, and certainly an enjoyment of colours and shapes that are often unexpected. The Art Gallery (old) entrance is quite strange as the steps are never used. The current entrance is off Little Malop Street, not facing the park which I guess was once the back of the gallery.
