A cup of tea on a hot day

from w
It's going to be about 40 degrees centigrade today in Geelong and I'll give coffee a miss, and go for Royal Tea, Masala or Ginger. My daughter-in-law from Fiji visited recently and brought some packets of tea (from Sri Lanka imported into Fiji by CJ Patel in Suva). Both very nice. We drink a variety of tea - from Earl Grey, herbal teaq, to no-brand tea, but these two - ginger and masala are the best for a hot day.

Ginger tea...that ought to help you sweat off a few degrees! ;-) One of my coworkers gave me some of that after a trip to Bali. That was pretty incredible stuff!

I've never had masala tea before. What's it like?

Masala is an ingredient in making curry so it does sound odd to put it into tea but it's a lovely kind of tea. Reminds me of the hospitality of the Fiji Indian families on the cane-fields of Rakiraki area because when we visited, there would always be a welcoming cup of tea, usually with spices such as cinnamon and masala.
It's really hot this morning (7 a.m.) and already over 30 degrees centigrade!
