Painting turtles from Vorovoro Island
from w
I'm making an acrylic painting of small turtles running haphazardly towards the sea but they look more like crabs! It's a painting intended for a wedding present (Don't read further V and L!) Here are bits of it - but I was also playing around with what Epson does when you click on 'Illustration'. Is there a little man somewhere who decides which parts to paint over? The other pic is an old one of the same topic - this time with pen, brush and ink. It's also just a part of the pic.

This will be a beautiful gift. You've caught the feel of the turtlettes swirling away in the waves - we saw this once at Heron Island. I really like the loose little sketch too.
Hermione was our profoundly handicapped daughter who mercifully slipped away(in 1996)aged just three. My parents paid for the bench opposite 'her' island where her ashes are buried.I often walk there because it is a lovely walk, a pleasant 50 minutes return. You can see some of her story in the archive on my Scribbles blog March 1, o6 and on 5kradius, 10 June
Oh, I didn't know that Hermione's bench was part of your personal story. It's a special place of course. We all have stories to tell, and there is a time and a place.
Re the turtlettes - V and L live in Canberra but the wedding is at Bateman's Bay on the 17th. I'm sure they peek at our blogs occasionally!

The turtles in those top two pictures remind me of Aboriginal art for some reason. I know you've sketched Aboriginal art and posted it on your site before, so perhaps the influence is there.
Those are nice pictures!
Wendy this is beautifully done and I think they look like turtles. A lovely gift for any one.
Not so hot here today, or so they say, but we can be a lot hotter than Victor out here in the valley, over 10 degrees. Sticky.
I do read your other blog occasionally and find it really interesting, of a culture i know nothing about.
I have finished the painting...I hope. Peceli insisted I add more water and less beach! I found the turtles so difficult to do with paint brushes. Pen is so much easier.
Thanks for your comments.
