Geelong, the Cats

from w
Everyone here is talking about the amazing good kicking/team play of the Geelong Football Club. They've had about 18 wins out of 19 and certainly ready for the Grand Final. They won yesterday by about 100 points. They haven't won a premiership for over forty years it seems though they've been in the final a few times. Maybe this time the Cats will really do it.

After watching them play at the week end (on tv) I dont think any one has a hope of defeating them.

My father in law is 80 this year and has never seen them win so We are barracking for the cats this year, even though Ralph really supports Collingwood.

Well, so far, so good. Last night Geelong beat Collingwood in the preliminary final, though it was a close call. If one Collingwood goalkicker had not scored a point in the last ten minutes it would have been a draw! Anyway, the Geelong community still have smiles on their faces. Over 98,000 people were at the game and at about $75 a ticket, that's a lot of money.

Wendy, I saw your comment over at MyTopography (which has grown rather jaded now unfortunately) and I just had to say that we right up here in the far, far northern climes of Queensland, spent a very twitchy two hours on Friday night screaming at the tv while Geelong and Collingwood fought it out.

I reckon the Cats will do it this year and as former residents, we have been gripped by a footy fever like never before.

I would've paid $175 to see the game live.

Hello Keeva,
Yes, it was a twitching time watching the last ten minutes of the game. Now that yesterday's semifinals is over and the Kangaroos are out, it's between an Adelaide team and us next weekend. Should be very close.
