Hibiscus and flowering gum

from w
It was hot yesterday so I spent the day indoors doing some sketching. Peceli played golf as usual and said it was very very hot.

The hibiscus bush has come to life again, though the leaves are tiny, but yesterday there were seven large flowers. Amazing what a little rain can do. I have two versions here, one painted, and in the second one I added white pastel and some cool colours as background. The other picture is based on flowers and pods of the flowering gum from a tree in the street. The cap of the pod opens out as the flower emerges.

Absolutely lovely Wendy,I have finally caught up with a few of other peoples blogs, I dont know where the time goes but it has, and John has been on the computer almost coninuously dong his family history.
I like your comments, are you going to your re union? I always found mine a bit disatrous and have stopped going.
At least you studied art, I got married and had babies very young.

Hello Penny,
Thank you for your kind comments. Re the re-union, dunno. It's just too long since those three years together in Melbourne. I am a poor friend - tend to move on every five to ten years and make new networks.

PS I am spitting chips at present about the kerfuffle in Fiji. A most peculiar outcome, but, well, people do love power it seems.
