The 1950s - were they the good old days?

The Herald Sun has run an interesting set of photos from the 1950s.  Some people call that time 'the good old days' but I don't think it was for women - all that work in the kitchen and laundry.  Though for children it perhaps was an idyllic time.

Here are some of the photos in the Herald Sun from the 1950s.  I was in Melbourne in the late 50s, the time of the Olympic Games and the first TVs in Melbourne.
