The Barwon River at Breakwater

from w
The day was extremely hot but by 5 p.m. it was a little easier so we decided to drive to some venue with airconditioning and buy coffee perhaps, but take sketchbooks. Well, we went down some unknown roads and lanes in Marshalltown, but also stopped at the Breakwater Bridge. For a few years now the Council has been talking about building a new Breakwater Bridge because this railway bridge is very very old and the road is very busy also. But there are numerous complaints from houseowners vulnerable to the planning. Here are the sketches I did.
We did drop into the White Eagle -owned by the Polish Club - by 6.15 to have a meal, and to cool down. It's a nice bistro and our church Connexions group go there quite often for a meal.

Later - Sunday. I found a couple of photos on the internet showing a train going over the Breakwater Bridge and one of the winding Barwon River, also a couple of vasriations of the pics I did yesterday.

Wonderful to be taken along on these trips with your sketches, Wendy. Such fun. Thank you. And more...more...

Hello Annie,
I added a bit more today. It's hot again so I only went out in the morning to play the music at church. Peceli had car trouble on the way to Melbourne - a broken fan belt - so spent three hours with the RACV and our son had to pick him up. Let's hope the car will be fixed by tomorrow as it's at a garage 30 minutes away.
