Australian deserts

Yesterday I watched a beautiful film on ABC TV about Lake Eyre in Central Australia, a lake that is almost dry most years but occasionally the floods from the north bring the creeks and rivers back to life and Lake Eyre has water again. It only fills really well every fifty or so years. So I searched for pictures of the desert area and Lake Eyre then came up with abstract kind of pictures that look like paintings to depict the desert areas of Australia. An amazing land because periodically it does come to life with vegetation and birds. Life has its seasons. What I noticed was the similarity to some kinds of Aboriginal art and also the paintings of John Wolseley who did spend time in the desert areas painting tiny details as well as large-scale views. The photos I used were from the internet, some taken from satellites.
