Brolga chick at Serendip

Serendip is a bird and animal sanctuary in the Lara area close to Geelong. This year only one brolga chick was born, and named Brendan. The Parks ranger said the drop has been because of the drought. Brendan is three weeks old and they still haven't determined if Brendan is a 'he' or a 'she'.

There are only about 600 brolgas left in Vcitoria's wild with predators and human habitation having a big impact on their population. Serendip has Australia's largest brolga enclosure with 21 of the birds.
